How to find a book through the card catalog

Consider the following when searching a book:

  1. Author Card - The card which has as its first entry is the author’s name.  All work written by the author is filed together and arranged alphabetically according to title.
  2. Title Card   - The card which has as its first entry is the title of the book.  These cards are also arranged alphabetically.  Articles like a, an, and the are to be disregarded.
Subject Card - The card contains specific word/s that describes the topic of the book.  These are arranged alphabetically.
